PoolPad started with one frustrated family, a stubbornly green backyard pool, and a promise: figure out what actually works, then share it honestly. Today we buy and test pool gear in real pools and write the guides we wish we'd had on day one.
Like a lot of you, we became pool people by accident. We bought a house with a backyard pool, pictured lazy summer afternoons, and instead got a crash course in cloudy water, cryptic test strips, and equipment that never came with a real manual. That first summer humbled us.
So we did what stubborn people do: we went all in. We read everything, balanced water by hand, took apart pumps, and slowly turned that murky pool into the clearest one on the street. Neighbors started knocking for advice. That was the spark.
To make sure our advice was more than lucky trial and error, we pursued professional pool operator training and certification, then kept testing gear season after season. PoolPad is where we put all of it, the wins, the expensive mistakes, and the honest verdicts, so your learning curve is a lot shorter than ours was.
— The PoolPad Team
We buy our own gear and never take payment for a review or ranking. If something's overpriced or underwhelming, we say so.
No spec-sheet reviews. Real debris, real walls, real waterlines. Scores reflect how gear performs in the water, not on paper.
Pool care is confusing enough. We explain the why behind every step so you can make confident decisions without a chemistry degree.
We recommend what we'd put in our own backyard, matched to your pool and your budget, not whatever pays the highest commission.
The same repeatable process behind every product score on PoolPad.
Every unit is purchased at retail, just like you would. No loaners, no sponsorships, no strings that could color a verdict.
Cleaners face actual leaves, sand, and grime across floors, walls, and the waterline, over hours of run time, not a quick demo.
Coverage, filtration, navigation, features, noise, and value, each rated the same way so two reviews are genuinely comparable.
We live with products long-term and revisit reviews each season as firmware, durability, and prices change.
PoolPad is a small team of certified pool operators, lifelong pool owners, and unapologetic gear nerds. We maintain our own pools year-round, which means we hit the same headaches you do, and we've fixed them enough times to explain the fix clearly.
The rules we hold ourselves to on every single page.
