Ozonator quit making that fish tank smell, worth chasing down

Feet in the tub right now, noticed the water's not got that faint ozone smell it usually has after the jets kick on. Used to get a little whiff for the first minute or two, been running the same setup four seasons and it was always there till maybe two weeks ago. Tub still heats fine, jets are strong, just seems like the ozonator itself quit. Anybody know if these things just die outright or do they fade out slow. Not opening the cabinet myself, that's staying unplugged and GFCI off till somebody who knows spa packs takes a look. Just curious if this is a common failure or if I'm chasing a ghost and it never did much to begin with.

No idea on hot tubs buddy, above ground guy over here with just a chlorine floater, but four years outta any electronic part feels like it got its money's worth either way.

Four seasons is about typical for the UV bulb or CD cell to give up, they don't usually fade gradual, more just one day the smell's gone and that's your answer right there. Good call leaving the cabinet closed, that's a job for someone who does spa packs regularly.

And for what it's worth, ozonators were only ever a supplement anyway, never a replacement for your sanitizer, so don't let it going out make you think the water's suddenly unsafe. Keep testing and dosing like normal till it's fixed.
