The initial estimate was detailed and they explained what mortar deterioration actually means for the rest of the brick, which I appreciated. Once the work started, the crew was efficient and moved through the front and side walls over about three days. You could tell they knew what they were doing just watching how they raked the joints. The color match on the new mortar blended in really well with the existing brick on our Cicero bungalow. Final walkthrough was quick - they pointed out everything they did and answered a couple questions I had.
A's Masonry repointed a section of our exterior brick wall where the mortar had gotten pretty worn down. Some of the joints were recessed almost half an inch and a couple of bricks were starting to shift. The finished work looks great - the new mortar matches the existing color well and the joints are filled consistently all the way across. It's one of those repairs you don't think about much until you see how bad it had gotten.
Used these guys for tuckpointing on the front facade and some brick repair around the chimney base. The estimator came out, walked the whole exterior with me, and pointed out a few areas I hadn't even noticed were starting to fail. He didn't try to upsell me on anything, just told me what needed attention now and what could wait another year or two. The crew showed up on the day they said they would and worked steadily. I actually found A's Masonry through one of those neighborhood Facebook groups, someone posted a before and after of their front steps and it looked really good. I messaged them and got a quote within like a week I think, maybe less. They were upfront that they only do restoration work not new construction which was fine because all I needed was tuckpointing on the back wall and some cracked bricks replaced near the basement window. The whole job took two days and they were pretty quiet about it honestly, I work from home and barely noticed them out there.
had water getting into our basement along one wall every time it rained hard. thought it was a foundation issue at first but turns out the mortar joints on that side of the house were completely shot. like crumbling out in chunks when you touched them. A's Masonry came and looked at it and said the tuckpointing on that whole wall needed to be redone, plus a few bricks near the bottom were cracked and had to be replaced. they got to work pretty quick after we agreed on pricing. took them about two days for that wall. the new mortar matches well enough that you dont really notice where the work …
had cracks running through the mortar on the side of the house, water was getting behind the brick. They ground it all out and repointed the whole side, no more moisture in the basement wall
