They listened carefully to how we wanted our pool to be enjoyed by our grandchildren, adult children and ourselves as empty nesters and came up with a design that meets everyone’s needs. From a single photo of a hiking spot near here, they designed an exquisite patio, pool, and water features that look like part of the natural Hill Country landscape. Modern handled all the approval details with the various city and county agencies for us. Mike was our contractor and was onsite daily with a high quality crew. He was always meticulous, consistent, and on time; and he was fun to see and talk to every day. His onsite design suggestions enhanced the original design vision as went through the hands on construction process. Follow up and pool maintenance services two years post construction continue to be immediately responsive and provide excellent service. This company is a TEN.

Modern Pools did an amazing job of designing and building a custom pool in a sloping corner of our backyard that was not used. It is now the most used area of the backyard and it feels like an extension of our house. They managed the design, permitting, construction and installation of everything. Mike was great at managing the subcontractors and letting us know (and when necessary our neighbors) what was going on and what to expect next. It was completed about 18 months ago and we love it. We use it year round.

I cannot recommend Modern highly enough. They are true experts, all the way from conception and design, through build and hand-off. They are collaborative, responsive and deliver an incredible finished product. In a world where finding a great, reliable, trustworthy builder is nearly impossible you will not regret choosing Modern. 10/10

It's been a decade-long dream to build a custom, studio pool for my underwater photography business. After working in many different types of pools in Texas and even around the world, I had a good idea of what I wanted for my own pool. I knew there was one company I could not only trust with my vision, but also take my vision and improve upon it – Modern DB. I met owners Jan and Keli back in 2012 when I photographed them in the most incredible backyard pool I've ever seen, to this day, that they designed and built. Seeing the quality of work they've done over the years since, my partner and I were eager to start the design process with them on our own pool this year. From the start, we knew we were in good hands. Mike, their designer, met with us on site to talk through our vision and answer the lengthy list of questions we had. We expressed our desires for a multi-purpose pool – a studio pool to work in but also one we could enjoy at home and for entertainment. When he and the Modern DB team presented the initial design just weeks later, we were blown away by their presentation! They took all of our musts, wants and wishes and showed us a design that exceeded our expectations. They came up with creative solutions for my studio needs and designed a beautiful oasis perfect for entertaining. The renderings showed us every angle of the pool and landscaping, even underwater views, which was incredibly helpful for me to visualize the space I would be working in. They also showed views of the sun and shade on the pool at various times of the day which is also valuable information to me as a photographer. I am so glad we worked with them on this process and can now confidently move forward with building our dream pool. Their ability to take our vision and turn it into a detailed, well-thought-out design was impressive and exactly what we were looking for. With such an important investment, I'm glad we chose to work with Modern DB.

Modern Pools did my pool in 2007. They were referred to me by my landscaping company. I sell homes for a living and all I hear from people are about how frustrated they get with their pool contractors....so I was prepared for that when we embarked on this. Jan and his team were a pure joy to work with from the design to the day we jumped in. They were 20% UNDER budget and a month ahead of schedule getting it done. That is absolutely unheard of in their industry. I have sent them countless clients and never had a single complaint from anyone. I would not consider using anyone else. Our pool was large and expensive and their quality and customer service exceeded my expectations.
